Gift an Emergency Care Box and Help Save a Pet’s Life This Christmas

This Christmas, join national pet charity, Blue Cross, in spreading festive cheer by donat ing to help provide the emergency care our rehoming and veterinary teams deliver to pets in need, such as helping pets find a loving new family just in time for the season or saving a vulnerable pet’s life, giving them a chance of a brighter new year.
Last year, over 24,000 pets turned to Blue Cross for urgent care. Among them was Midge, a Maltese Terrier, who arrived at Blue Cross alongside her three-week-old puppies. Filthy, underweight, and suffering from multiple infections, they were given the emergency care they needed to survive. Thanks to the dedicated team at Blue Cross, after just 30 days, Midge’s puppies found their forever homes, and are now happy and thriving at seven months old. Midge didn’t have to wait long either – just weeks later, she found her loving family. This past year, she has enjoyed sunny beach trips in the family caravan with her new owners, Eliza and Danny, who gave her a loving home.
“Eliza McKenzie, who adopted Midge along with husband Danny after meeting her at Blue Cross Burford rehoming centre in Oxfordshire said: “I love her to bits, she’s just perfect. She’s our little midget gem and we wouldn’t be without her now.
“I look forward to waking up and seeing Midge. We’ve got children who have all grown up and we’ve looked after our grandchildren and I just felt that I had space to give, to love.”
This Christmas, you can be a hero to pets like Midge by donating £10, £20, or £25 for an Emergency Care Box. Each box contains essential items, like medication, food and toys that we urgently need to care for vulnerable pets. Visit www.bluecross.org.uk/carebox to give a gift that makes a difference.[i]
With the increasing demand for Blue Cross pet welfare services, the charity needs the support of animal lovers to continue its work helping pets and their people, in any way they can. Whether that’s by donating to keep rehoming and veterinary services going through these tough times, fundraising for Blue Cross, providing foster care for pets while loving new homes are found, donating items to charity shops, volunteering at pet food banks, or signing up to support Blue Cross campaigns for better pet welfare.
