Helping Olaf

Two months ago today we lost Irie. Although the grief was staggering, we knew that we would need to look for a companion for Tiki sometime soon. Seeing her reaction to the loss made us move our search up even soon than we’d first planned. Within days, we began searching the sites of local shelters.

Along with Barli’s listing (then Baby Bear), the Hill Country SPCA had several litters of cuter than cute puppies that would soon be available for adoption. One of those puppies was little Olaf. Who couldn’t fall in love with this face?

Sadly soon after seeing his listing, little Olaf contracted parvo. This little fellow is a fighter, though, and with the help of the shelter and veterinary care, he found his way back to good health–but before sepsis set in and cost him part of his tail and his rear paws. Just yesterday, the shelter posted news that the infection had set in too much and his rear leg would need to be amputated today.

This level of care is so costly for shelters–but it literally makes the difference between life and death for shelter pets. Today, thanks to your PawZaar purchases, we were able to donate to help with Olaf’s care–although the need continues. We’ll keep you posted as they post more news as Olaf continues to heal and makes steps toward his forever home!

We’re so happy to support the Hill Country SPCA, the shelter where Barli spent three months before we adopted him in March!
